Metered the demo car 😬

I don’t think most want to go through 11 pages on the original thread so I’ll do a new thread for this. Little refresh, taramps smart 5k, 3.75 cubic feet each 15ā€ tuned to 31-32 hz. Subs at rest sit at 2 ohm so I know I ain’t seeing fully power. Car is at idle so voltage drops to 13.3 volts. Box was built outside the car and put in the back seat area, bolted down, and a top trim plate added to make it like a wall. Sides do have gaps about 4ā€ wide so it’s not totally sealed off from the trunk. Subs and amp I was playing for over 2 hours before metering so things are running a bit hot (will meter again when everything is nice and cool). The result? 150.6 on the glass @ 40 hz. Did get a 150.7 letting everything sit for 20 min and doing it again but didn’t take a pic. Now I’m getting curious to see actual power the subs are seeing! I should of did the coils in D1 but ran out at the time as I was impatient šŸ˜‚. Wish I also made the box to 4.25 cubes per sub but would of required building the box inside the car and my old azz ain’t doing that šŸ˜‚. I’ll get a truck next when this beater is toast!

That's all I'm going for. To give and receive demos

is it in Florida? I’d love to go but won’t have the time right now 🄺. By the way this number is with everything closed (windows, doors, and sunroof). I already know with stuff open it will be louder and if measured in the kick. I’m only interested in the glass measurements tho. I know I could squeeze more if I do a rebuild and lose a layer on the spider and use dual 1 ohm coils. The other option is use the bigger motors I have with Dual 1 ohm coils and some other tricks but I don’t wanna get crazy. I kept this build as cheap as possible so when it’s shown off it has more wow factor.

I guessed 53's @ 40 hz. on your other thread. Isn't there supposed to be a specific spot on the windshield for the meter? You might meter higher in that location. I think it's 12" from the a-pillar or something like that. 40 hz. is pretty good. Congratulations on the 50.

you hit the frequency right on the money! I believe it’s 12ā€ from passenger A pillar 4ā€ above the dash. Problem is the wire isn’t long enough šŸ˜‚. After the car sat over night I metered again with everything cooled down in 58 degree weather. Everything sealed up with meter on the glass and it pulled a 151.1 @ 40 hz. Ima gonna stuff blankets on the sides of the box next to do a quick temp seal off to the trunk and see if that gains anything.

New best score 151.3 and while I was driving 🤫 so voltage was at 13.9v. Then of course I couldn’t resist and did a burp with the meter in the kick, what a difference 😳. When I got home I did a a steady 40hz to and measure the load off the amp and it’s a steady 3.3 ohms. I wonder what a smart 5k does at 3.3 ohms and 13.9v šŸ¤”. My guess would be 3800-4000 watts. Anyone use the smd meter for wattage? Is the thing accurate?

New best! Everything nice and chilly since it’s 52 degrees out today, 151.6 @ 40hz on the glass. Did some illegal maneuvers measuring from the drivers side kick panel and lawd this car meters way better in the kick panel! Broke 154 😳. For ish and giggles I was gonna stick the meter in the port but it don’t reach, it’s like a foot short the wire it comes with šŸ˜‚.

Didn't your meter come with a rechargeable power pack?
