Sub and port are rear firing ..the enclosure is mounted behind the seats ..I usually have the ski port down ..I had to remove the back plate from it ..the rear deck subs are a pain to remove ..or I’d take them outCRX- How do you have the sub oriented?
I have a mercedes E320 with a system. My car doesn't have a ski pass so I had to resort to firing backwards. My gas tank is right behind the rear seats and it's not foldable so there was nothing I could do about that. I ended up going with a 10" sub in a T-line enclosure, takes up the entire trunk space pretty much. I'm tuned very low 28hz and yes it was a rattle tin can monster before but after I deadened the trunk and removed my rear stock subs, it finally opened up and I can hear the lows with ease. It would be louder and lower in a SUV or hatcback but for a trunk setup, I was pleased. How does your trunk, tailgate, and rear deck do rattle -wise?
If I fire backwards.. The whole rear of my car sounds like beating on a tin roof.
I’m glad mine has the ski port ..every now and then depending on system I’ll hook my rear deck subs for extra midbass...I changed amps this evening to a Kenwood KAC X811d and it hammers ..when I get back from Canada in a couple of weeks I’m gonna changes subs and increase my power by at least 50% ..I’m dropping sub size from a 12 to a 10 though ..I plan to meter the car before and afterRear deck subs were a biiittttch to remove too but totally worth it to me. I even removed all 3 headrests from the back because it kept absorbing alot of the bass. These modifications made a significant difference as it allowed the sound waves to pass thru easily. Hope this helps.
That may work ..you may want to consider adding extra deadening material ( dynamat , rattletrap etc ) under the factory carpets and to the trunk lid ..to cut down on the outside rattles and vibrations ...usually best bass response is rear firing sub and port giving them about 8 inch’s of load room ..I’ve seen 50% increase in bass response by just the direction of the box ...I'm thinking sealing off the rear of the trunk is going to be the way to go for me.The lows are really starting to come in now.
Sub / port forward firing. Ski-pass open. Trunk sealed off.
The main thing is the rattles from trunk and rear deck are minimized.
AND it only takes a rectangular cutout to seal off the trunk **** near airtight.
Probably be even better with the rear deck sub out.. but that **** is a *****--- I've seen a youtube of the procedure.
i was wondering why nobody had mentioned deadening material yet LoLThat may work ..you may want to consider adding extra deadening material ( dynamat , rattletrap etc ) under the factory carpets and to the trunk lid ..to cut down on the outside rattles and vibrations ...usually best bass response is rear firing sub and port giving them about 8 inch’s of load room ..I’ve seen 50% increase in bass response by just the direction of the box ...
