Pro and Cons of the PR series 15's for cheap low power daily listening.

Will be powered by a HC-50, prolly 900rms at 1/2 ohm 450-500 at 1. I can get dual 2 I hope for that 1/2 ohm load, or maybe 4 d4, cause they are hellacheep now.

What yall think about 900rms to 4 PR 15?

Better to hit 500 to 2? and save room, or go big? What's SQ like on the 15's? I have only run 10's sealed, but I loved them.

Well since no one has answered this, i'll try to help. I've heard a PR 15" before and it pounded really hard for the price. The SQ isn't the greatest but it still sounds pretty good while getting loud. If you're leaning toward the SPL side, and are on a tight budget, get these. They do good in the SQL. If you're going to seal them, they'll sound real good.

They are good for daily driving. Now, if you want to save space, only get 2 and run the 500 watts to them, but if you really want to pound, you can get the 4 15's and run 900 watts to them but remember, they are underrated and can handle easily 300+ watts rms everyday, esp. if they're sealed.

Are you running the PR 10's sealed?

Pros - great price for them. Get loud and sound overall good.

Cons - not much here, I mean......for the price, you can't go wrong. They're not an excursion sub.

I have the specs around here somewhere, i'll find them.

Here they are.

15-PR154(svc) 15-PR154d(dvc)

Vas: 7 7

Mms: 170 170

Xmech: 0.352 0.352

Qms: 6 5.4

Qes: 0.51 0.6

Qts: 0.47 0.51

Coil diameter 2 2

BL 14.37 9.7

mounting diameter: 13.75" for svc and dvc

mounting depth: 6.5" for svc and dvc

What kind of car are they going in? And oh yeah, another cons is they love huge boxes. You're looking at about an 6 - 8 cu.ft. box for 2 15's

I have a 6.4 ft3 box @27hz for em. I think its fine, braced solid enough for 2 PR's anyways. My 10's were ported @ 30, people never believed that a pair of 10's would play that low.

Amazing, but everyone within 100 miles of here gets fartboxes made by Sandy.

I think they are great for the price. ill be running 4-12" PR's in 2x 4 Cu.Ft boxes at 34 HZ. currently im running 2 and they get pretty loud. louder than i expected. ill be putting 200 RMS to each with 2 Alpine MRP-M450 amps. eventually i will get a 1000RMS @ 1ohm amp and drive them with that. i gave them about 400RMS with an alpine amp rated at 1076 RMS @ 1ohm for a couple hours and they took them like a champ.

if your looking SQ wise get the M Class as there built more for the SQ side of things and the PR's are more for SPL (granted im sure you wont have high SPL numbers with them. but im sure impressive nonetheless)

The dude aint decided yet on my swap, so I might have to wait a little longer. The PR's have enough SQ for me, they are lightyears ahead of the HDC and any Fosgate/Kicker woofer.

I think I will go with only 2 15's, as the extra room is needed for my new 4 channel.
