Memphis or PPI..

Hi, today i went shopping for an amp for my RE se (12) anyway i came across a Memphis..(forgot the model) i`know it was 600 rms or something similar, the salesman told me that, that amp was perfect for it....although damm that thing is so small.

Then i went to a different store and found a ppi 500x1, which it looks pretty good.Both of them are pretty close price wise...so my question is whitch you rather have...or better yet what should i get and why?

ppi and memphis are both respectable companies to buy from. With that being said, I would think whatever amp fits the subs needs (example 600 watts) would be your best bet. Req and I both had our SE's being pushed with about 800 watts and with gains set properly they did just fine. If you want to purchase an amp that just puts out 600 watts, pick up either memphis or ppi. If you want a little bit of head room, I'd suggest buying something that does 700 - 900 watts @ 2ohms that way you atleast have some head room, and you can set the gains nicely.

to power your sub..get a mtx 801d or a a decent 600-800watts ppi or memphis amp(no hifonics overrate type amps)

So i` guess it will be the Memphis b/c the ppi was 500x1, but the Memphis was so small...damm anywas i was told that the Memphis amp get real hot...is there any true in that?

what kind of ppi amp depending on the model and how old it is it very well could do over 600w

can you tell us what model amp you were looking at? Also, what kind of price range are we talking about? Not trying to talk you out of either amps, just maybe there is a cheaper (just as good amp) for the price.

I think is the newer version..it says 500x1..I know the old oner were pretty good? but the new line? i don`t know!

The memphis i don`t have the model #...sorry.. i know is real small..and the ppi was the 500x1...grey and red..and they were both 275.00 (different stores)

its a power reference. PRD500.1, its pretty small, and the front of the box says 500x1.
