Memphis component + amp questions

Finally I am ready to purchase, and Im going the route of components up front powered by a 4 channel amp and in the future adding a sub powered by bridging the rear channels, all controlled by the alpine cda9856 HU that just came out.

I was listening to speakers at a few different shops today, and a set of 6.5" Memphis components (not sure what model) sounded pretty good, and cost $299. This would be powered by either a 50Wx4 or a 75Wx4 Memphis amp for $289 or $399 respectively. My other option would be to go for slightly cheaper Alpine Type-R components which didnt sound as good to my ear, but I listened to them in a different shop.

Would a non-audiophile really be able to tell the difference of sound depending on which amp was powering the Memphis ones?

Also, there seems to be a great lack of information about the memphis speakers out there. I know they are supposed to be a good company and known for their amps, but just googling them yields an absence of information.

Well I have that Memphis 50x4 amp and I love it. But don't pay $289 for it. I only payed $240 and I thought that was a little high.

I'm running the Memphis M-Sync 6.5's and for that price, it seems that's what you were looking at, but you can get them cheaper than that, I paid $269, which I thought was high. I'm running them with the Memphis 16-MC3004 which is 75x4 and they sound great now that I've got my PEQ setup right.

And how would I go about getting them cheaper, bargaining with the shop? I was reading on Memphis's website and say they wont honor their warrantee for any online sales.

Also in terms of the amp, would the decision to go 4x50 or 4x75 for the amp depend solely on how the speakers sound hooked up to each, or do I really need the extra power of the 75 RMS one for when I add a 12" sub of some kind in the near future?

I went with 75x4 because I like a lot of vocals. I also am running 1200 watts to one 12" woofer also, so I needed the extra power to help balance it all out.
