Memphis 16-ST1000D worth $112?

sorry to bring up an old thread but I went back to the pawn shop that I bought that memphis amp from and low and behold they still had the earthquake d200hc. It was only listed for 70 bucks this time and on top of that all car amps were 20% off. So even after tax and everything the earthquake d200hc was 59 dollars and some change. needless to say i bought it. Not sure how but they've had this amp for sale since april of 2008. Nobody knows shit about amps around here apparently. Also scoped a mmats d300 for 189 on this visit.

Nice find. I check out the shops here every few months. One shop I go to has no clue on amps, They sold me 3 Zapco Z100 amps for $20 each.

A Zapco AG 200 for $30.

I just picked up an old Philips sound labs A400.. Cant find any info on it, but it was cheap.

Wait till you get it down to 1 ohm, and see how your lights dim then.

btw, That ampgut pic may have been mine.

The ST1500 on there is.

i used to run the d2s along with one d200hc mark 2 when i competed. Four earthquakes on 2 dual 1 ohm coil 15's in a ford probe. I used to hit 160's with that setup in Super Street 1-2 db drag back in the day(2000-2001). never had many issues with them blowing up as so many other people had. I fried two in two and a half years of competing and earthquake always fixed them for me for free and in a hurry. had a friend run a d200hc daily for like five years and it even survived a car wreck. love these amps

all i can say is ****, i would go back and get that matts if it's the high current model
that mmats was a d300hc....but i don't have the cash on hand to pick it up. Its 20 percent off of 189 dollars if anyone wants me to snag it for them. i really wanted it because i never had a mmats but i was around so many of them competing. maybe santa will bring me a shit load of money and i can snag that one up too

hope this doesnt come off dickish, but i had that memphis 16-st1000d, and it was worthless. i had it on a rd audio alpha 15" v2, and it didnt bang at all. i put a jl1000 on it, and it got pretty nasty. i ended up selling the memphis, and the guy i sold it to sold it that same day for a us amps 1500. i think the fusing on my memphis was only 80 amps. i had it wired at 1 ohm, and it was embarassing. that earthquake will probably sound better. either way, cant beat the prices your paying, so i would be happy with that.

Actually been running that memphis for about 3 months and it does just fine even running 2 ohms. I have noticed that it takes quite a bit of gain to get good output from the memphis but i also have a pioneer deck with shitty rca voltage. I havent even had the chance to run it at 1 ohm yet but i think it will really shine when i do. The earthquake does way more power than the memphis. I dont really need that much at this point, just would like to have the extra power on tap if i decide to hit a show or two. I love both of these amps for the nostalgia factor as well.

I too had a dislike for those amps. I got the st1000 to replace a kenwood x811, and the Memp. sounded muddy if thats a discription... Also it was a power hog at 1 ohm. I replaced it with the Kenwood till I came across the ST1500, I tried that one for a few hours before reselling it.. It too was very power hungry at 1 ohm, and sounded like it was clipping my sub, even tho it was set up right, had proper power, ect... idk, just didnt like them. I still have a PR200 i use on speakers that i like. had for a while now with no issues. Also the ST line had very limited asjustments..

Also, who bumped a 6 month old thread, and why am I still replying?

I bumped it and its only three months old. LOL. Just wanted to tell of the deal I got on the earthquake and it was somewhat related to this thread so i bumped it instead of making a totally new one
