Memorial Day Sale?

I’m not using Memorial Day to save money. I was legit asking if any website was having any sales. I’m not using this holiday as an excuse to save money.

My family were all on the farms during times of peace and war feeding all of you. I don’t have a military family, so my honor of the military will come on Veterans Day. On Memorial Day, I honor my family who have died, not the military. Memorial Day is to honor the memory of those in your family who have passed, military or not. Since when did this day get hijacked as being only a day to honor service members?

I get it, especially if you have military family, but growing up we always visited the graves of our family on Memorial Day regardless of service history. What day does your family remember and honor the members who were not military? Do those family members not get a day reserved for them?

We usually remember them on their birthdates and dates of death. That's the days we visit their graves and remember them.

I’d be at the graveyard 30 times per year if I did that. We always went as a family on Memorial Day with my grandparents when I was growing up. It was one of the biggest family days of the year for us next to thanksgiving. We’d have 25-30 people at the cemetery on Memorial Day. Now we all live across the country from each other, so it’s not the same as it was.
