Hey guys im a determined do it yourselfer and dont really want to take my car in to be tuned but having problems keeping speakers intact....

I have the following setup

pioneer mvh 8200 deck

jbl gto 1004 4 channel

sony xm gtr6001 monoblock

1 farad stinger cap (connected to 4 channel)

2 farad legacy cap (connected to monoblock)

4 gauge for power & grounds has 1 4 gauge wire from batt to each cap ( so 2 front to back)

2 6x9 basswork BSX692.1 speakers in boxes (connected to amp)

2 pioneer ts A1674R speakers in front doors(not amped)

2 JL 12" subs in a box (dont know much about these never looked on the back or had them out of the box... BUT tested the impedance and they are both 8 ohms good or bad?)

problem Im having is I like really loud clear sound for long drives and I cant seem to accomplish this ive acctually melted the tweeters out of the bassworx speakers and now they sound like s***

so I need new speakers to start im good with that... looking at alpine type R... 2 6 X 9 and 2 6.5 good ? bad ? suggestions WELCOME! than I need help tuning it I think. I understand gain... thought I had it turned down low enough I wouldnt burn things but guess not even then it wasnt loud enough id like it to be like god screaminng in your ear lol.

between my deck and 2 amps I have lots of things to adjust and randomly turning things dosent seem to help I just burn speakers out happened a few times now... my deck for sure has a high pass filter and a 7or 8 way graphic eq I believe I have it set for high loudness and hpf at 125 and graphic eq on the low end of 40 and 80 htz( bass isnt really my thing 2 12s are over kill for me) and the rest at the high end... not maxxed but high

as for the amps well the jbl is set in the middle for freq cuz I dunno wtf its for...and input is about 1/3 there is a few switches honestly dont know where they are set now can find out if needed

the sony the bass boost is at 0 turned right down but whats the subsonic filter??? there is a few dials on that amp dunno what to set them too... the bass is ok but dosent quite thump kinda muffled it seems

soo to start id like some help and general suggestions where all my setting should be... cuz it really dosent sound the way i want it to bought good quality amps and deck i figure but am kinda scared to buy good speakers to have them melt down in a few weeks... like i said this isnt the first set of speakers ive fried Please help any input is greatly appriciated

also when buying speakers should I buy componet speakers with passive crossovers? and the seperate tweeters or are 2 or 3 way speakers ok?

ditch the caps, sounds like your gains were too high, resulting in clipping, over heating, bye bye speakers.

turn the gains all the way down on the amps, put your stereo to 75% max volume, then adjust the gains until theyre loud, but nothing overbearing, shouldnt be even close to half..

yeah just realized caps are forbidden here! lol but yeah they will go in time had dimming head lights bad and an alt with 370 000 kms on it and friends with caps laying around and they were free so that is helping for now all this costs money ive found out and its never loud enough..

stock alt is 90 amps and can get a 120 amp directly for the car it was an option from VW (mk3 jetta) so should i look for a 120 or do ! need more?.

I love my A/C but not really using it with the stereo up loud...
