Mech man alt help

My buddy got a me man alt for his ford taurus and is installing it..the problem is it has two plugs on the stock alt one plug has like three wires in it and has a spot to plug in on mech man but the other small plug has just one white wire and the mech man alt doesn't have a spot for it.. What is this wire? And is it important? Also the mech man had what looks like a spot for a ground to be put on it.. Do I have to run a new ground to the alt?

I think I figured it out the white wire is just a jumper plug or some sh@$ not necessary

That spot might be for either positive or negative, make sure you don't mix them up. If it does have a terminal for ground, yes, you should run 0ga (or larger) from the terminal to your battery and chassis if you really want to. I assume you've done the big 3?

Yea big 3 is done.. It's workin fine I got everything figured out

What year Taurus? Mine was a direct fit and I drive an 04 with the 3.0 OHV

If its a 04-07 does your check charging system light come on?

It's a 99 and nope no lights and it's working fine
