Alright guys, so i know the obvious answer is "go get metered" but theres no termlabs around where i live so im just going to throw up this thread and see what the general consensus is

Ive got a friend that thinks his system is louder then mine

He has a 2000 Blazer, FULLY dynamatted, with two 12" JL W3V2's in a custom sealed box, ran off a JL 500/1, he claims to be in the low 150s with this setup? im skeptical, hes only pushing 500 watts and has a sealed box, regardless of how good a vehicle or subs he has.

My setup consits of a 2000 Impala with the back seat taken out, so its all one open airspace, not a "trunk", i only have the whole trunk deadened, not the entire vehicle, i have a single 15" Type R in a TCAB Box running off a PA A3000DB @ 1 ohm for around 2K Watts, obviously i have the box and power advantage, and maybe the vehicle advantage due to no rear seats so its kinda like a SUV setup except in a smaller area, but this dude still thinks he has me?

whats the verdict

okay well since u guys dont have a TL its not gonna be accurate. Because sometimes a car would sound louder then another car even though on the meter its actually not. So if ur going by ear its really gonna be random.

guy, I just let my good friend borrow my TermLab and he lives down in SANFORD, which is like 1/2 hr from the border of Maine and NH... there are a BUNCH of TL's "in the area" depending where you exactly are...

if you are willing to travel, by all means get in touch with me and we will get metered //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

his trucks loud though.. you really can here him like 3 blocks out, it dosent really make sense, maybe he has the demon system or something, i never thought the W3's were that special, but its pretty loud

btw, we have a kid up here who just got two W7 12's and two JL 1000/1's put in his Cherokee, and Tweeter says he could burp a 160 and win all of the SLAP shows that we have up here... I wonder who would be farther off your friend or this guy :p

reactive load is a 2K load, im pushing around 1100 to it after all is said and done, it happens with any setup, just like this dudes reactive load is 500 watts, he might be getting 3

you can't hear him 3 blocks away unless these blocks are a couple houses each. i have 2 ported 15's on 3kw in an explorer and you can't hear me 2 blocks away. blocks are pretty shitty measurements of distance though, some are 100 ft some are half a mile.
