there is a huge difference between what your running and a Mcintosh, if he takes it to an unauthorized repair center and mcintosh will tell him to fuck off if he needs them to help him out.

thats lame.. if its not under warranty why would it matter
Companies want you to exclusively use their parts and the repair centers they endorse.

I bought the amp open box (he claimed he never used it) from a consumer for $950 amp retails for about 2k so I am still ahead sorta. It was shipped to me USPS, another possible reason it failed. If you value your hardware send it FexEX or UPS.

Anyway, a lot of companies wont honor warrenties unless you buy it from an "authorized dealer". It's complete B.S. they just want you to pay more for their products and not buy them from overstock companies.

I sent it to an authorized repair center. The only authorized repair center... They have that part of the market cornered.

I was told that a lot was wrong with the amp, I believe the guy the amp was doing a lot of weird things when I sent it in. The amp has meters and when I used an iPod to check the rca's (plugged it into channels 3 and 4 only) the power meters indicated there was signal from all channels and then it shut off.

Just curious though what would you consider fair for an amp repair (around 200-300$)?
200-300 tops. And ive blown up amps way more expensive than yours //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

The cost does sting, but I just want it fixed with the right parts so if by some stroke of god it fails again it can be repaired. I am not doubting any repair places ability only the parts they use...

UPDATE...

Apparently the shop cannot find ANYTHING wrong with the Amp...

I popped in a JBL amp and it works with the system.

Speakers (not blown)

Amp Power (13v - engine off)

Maybe something was loose and shifted back into place???

Any thoughts on why an amp would go in protect mode? It was raining the night before it failed, could that have anything to do with it?

Maybe the humidity?

Any ideas... lol
