Wanted to know if MB Quart amplifier quality is the same or not since changing ownership. Their amps are pretty inexpensive so I wanted to know if quality, dependability, etc. has been sacrificed. Even compared to Kicker amps they are less expensive.

I don't think I want to go with JL Audio anymore. I don't think my JL Audio 350/2 (110W RMS @ 4 ohms) does such a great job driving my ADS comp tweeters (100W) - I think my Kenwood KAC-846 did a much better job.

MBQ started to make amps when they were owned by Fosgate. Now they're owned by Maxxsonics...out of the pan and into the fire if you ask me.

If they were top-notch amps, they'd charge more and people would gladly hand over more $$$. Classic case of getting what you pay for. If you're on a budget, why don't you pick up a used amp? $150-200 can go pretty far when buying an old school amp and IMO, is a better way to spend your money. If you want the best product for the lowest price, you can't beat used.

they are still great amps. the onyx 1500 does rated without trying. and my 4.60 sounds clearer than some dsc 4 channels. i know the 4.125 has better sq than the dsc 4.125 .

Thanks for replies - helps me a lot. Yes, definitely thinking of getting good used amp. In 2007 I went into an upscale private car audio shop and he told me that he was going out of business after 30 years. He told me ADS, MB Quart and others were folding all due to the iPod. People would rather listen to their iPod in the car than their stereo system.

ADS was bought by Directed/DEI 15 years ago (or so). DEI then sold the licensing rights to ADS to some gawd awful ChiCom build house almost 10 years ago.

here; GUANGZHOU ADS AUDIO SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD

Ya...good stuff.
