Ok so I bought an mb quart 1200.1d MONO amp from a member here. And I got it in the mail yesterday and was puzzled to see it was a 2 channel. An I went to sonic electronics andthey advertise the same amp as a mono amp yet if you look at the pictures they have up it is clearly a 2 channel. Here is a link to the pics. So what are the true power ratings?

imagine if you will have a mono amp with 2 wires running fromthe positive. as well as two running from the negative. this is basically wahts happening inside the amp. both positives are from 1 source internally this is the same for the negative. the amp is bridged internally for easier wiring options.

It is a one channel aka mono amp but it has 2 speaker inputs for wiring flexibility let's say u wanna run 4 twelves u wire one set to 2ohm and the other set the same and then wire them accordinglt to each set of inputs either parrallel or in a series //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

O ok:) I get it. Now another stupid question. What is the real world use. Cuz my sub is dual 1 ohm coils. So if I hook up each coil directly to the amp the amp will actually see a .5 ohm load?

its bridged internally in parallel which adds the ohm load so amp will see 2 ohm load if you hook one coil to each plug.

WRONG.

If he wires each coil to a "channel", those channels are bridged internally which would bring the final ohm load to .5 ohms.

This is the same as if he wired the coils together at the sub and then ran one set of speaker wires to the amp.

However, since he now has the sub wired to 2 ohms (the coils in series), all he needs to do is hook up the sub to one positive channel and one negative channel to the amp for a 2 ohm load.
