MB Quart ONX4.125 1000W RMS question? please

Hey Wenn...

I'll see your bet. Come out to Western Regionals this year. Enter ANY SQ class you'd like...I'd prefer Pro-Am 'cause that mean you'll be in my class.

Bring your McIntosh amps. I know what they can't and can do as well. I've had seat time with Scott Buwalda's Black Betty and his four MCC602TMs and I can tell you it isn't the amps that make the car what it is.

Sir, I'm calling you out. Show up and be ready.

If you already have the amp and speakers, provided the install is correct, you have a pretty nice semi-budget setup. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif that amp will be fine at 2 ohms though. What's your budget on a sub?

two bostons acusics G3 OR SPG 555 BOSTON ACOUSTICS FOR JBL 1400.1 1500 RMS

I saw in a video that amplifier is not stable to 2 ohm , but in their specifications say it is.I know several forum members already have the amplifier or other amplifier MB Quart brand and wanted to share their experiences.

addition and how could yo do the installation?

these amps are 2ohm stable per chan and not bridge even twisted says in the video he doesn't recommend doing it also i agree with sineju to much is put on the price of a amp and not the quality, quality amps are getting alot cheaper then they use to be

and what makes the onyx not so great for sq set ups? Because it isnt expensive? Its not a zed or phoenix gold? Funny you say this when you yourself are running a 2150 that was the forum budget boner amp 2-3 years ago.
I have owned several of those discus amplifiers and i like them, the onyx is no less of an sq amplifier then the discus or any other amplifier. I run the autotek line that shares the same internals of those onyx amplifier in a competition sq set up and take home trophies. I have beat out guys running mac, zapco, hertz and other high end amplifiers/speakers, its all about placement, stage and install and image. This year i added another autotek 4 channel and a set of 4" speakers and bumped myself up a class.

Op your amplifier is going to work out just fine with your front stage as long as you cross those things off at the right cut off and have good placement, you made a good purchase. This will sound nice for a daily set up.
brother thank you for your objective opinion

MB Quart amplifiers seem to do the rated power. I have seen independent measurements that always overshoot the ratings by a little. My front stage has been powered by MB Quart REF4.80 and I had no issues. It's a compact class A/B amplifier that's rated for 4x80watts but based on independent review, does over 100 at 4ohms.

Having said that, would I buy MB Quart ONX4.125? No! I am tired of seeing 20 inch long boat anchors in my trunk. What would I buy? A compact Class D amplifier such as Alpine PDX or Kenwood eXcelon XR-4S. Yes, they're more expensive, but you're paying for the utilitarian aspects of it, not just technology.

Regarding the new MB Quart amps in general, I have seen horror stories with the new Q-series amplifiers blowing up woofers and tweeters with turn on pops, and I am personally not proud of how pretty much every MB Quart mono-block requires mono signal on both RCA plugs (most stereos, send stereo signal on their Left and Right subwoofer outputs). The cost cutting in the current MB Quart products is pretty obvious to me. I would not buy their product again until I hear otherwise.

The 4.125 is a GREAT POWERFUL amp for the money! I have disrespected and beat the shit out of mine and it is still playing strong! Ran it @ 2ohms bridged per side for about 7 months.....got hot and went into protect after extended playing....but she's still going strong!

Wow this thread is still going?? I ran the 125.4 personally for a good 2-3months it did its job seems to do rated but it did get hot hot hot "never shut off though" lots of plastic but I mean I paid $130 for it so it was worth the money till I could afford better.

I had an autotek that got crazy hot but never shut off as well. Thing was bulletproof. Sounded decent to me too until I swapped my current Boston in there. Some people say u can't hear the difference, I surely did. But it wasn't enough to make someone not buy it, just enough for me end up keeping the Boston and selling the Autotek.
