mazda protege 5 opinions?

hey, anyone own a mazda protege 5 or ever driven/riden in one? I found a black one for a good price near by and it's a manual and looks like fun to drive and it's a hatchback so a sub could sound nice. opinions on the car?

i haven't driven the 5, but a friend of mine had the mazda 3 SP and it was a lot of fun to drive

Yes, I had a 2002 Protege 5 and out of close to 20 some odd cars I have owned, is one of my favorites. Gets up and goes when needed, easy to mod and not overly expensive, not bad on gas and have a lot of room to work with sub wise. I have had multi setups in my Protege. Ended up putting a wall in it and pretty much wasted most of my eng mods to it, lol! That bish was loud though! Was pulling mid 150's out of it. Did well facing the back too. Was over 150 with them facing back. There are pics of it somewhere on here. Cant remember what the thread it was though.

How many miles does it have and what color? Mine was yellow with 20% tinted windows all the way around with 18" Limited rims and Federal low pro's and eibach springs. I loved that dam car. Lost it in a bankruptcy! I really shouldnt have clamied it, but was paying close to 400 bucks a month on it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

It's an 02 black, stock with sirius satellite setup. 100,000 miles, for less than $7,000

Ewww at 100,000 miles. That might be a little high of a price. They are great little cars though and if take car of can last a good while, but I dont know about those miles man. Are they highway at least?

I am sure you could find another one for maybe a little more money, but less mileage. I am gonna hit up auto trader for ya.

Well, I guess these cars hold their value better than I thought, which is even more a kick in the balls for me getting rid of mine! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Anyway, here might be a steal! Only 21k, but it is yellow. Not too sure if you are dead set on black, but miles to me would play a huge part in buying a vechichle. This one has some mods too it as well. Also not sure what price tag your looking at. Do you not want to go above 7g's? Look pretty hard to get under 7gs with under 100,000 miles. Well here is the one I found that interested even me.

Not sure what the deal is with the headrests though.

thanks for the help big bang, but i have to be at 7 g or less. My jeep grand cherokee has been nothing but a money pit and i've had it for only a month and a half. And i know 100,000 is alot of miles but it is a one owner and the owner was this guy's wife . It is completely bone dry stock (aka: blank canvas)

Well if your dead set on it, then go for it. I am sure you will get some good use out of it. Just take care of it and it should be good to go. I wish I still had mine is all I know. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Have fun with it.

i'm not dead set on it. I'd love to have an Acura CL but they're almost impossible to find under 7k without 140,000+ miles on them. I've already had my "accord experience" (most people have one at some point in their lives) and the only accord i think i'd get would be 98-02 coupe V6 but they're also hard to find.

Out of all the cars I have owned, I have never owned an accord, lol! I have actually only been in 1 and just never impressed me, hence the reason why I probably never owned one. I think you would like the Protege, plus it is someone you know, which could be good and bad at the same time. Just ask them lots of questions like did you change the oil every 3k, rotate tires, how old are the tires, have you had any major problems with it, why are you selling it, you know those kind of things.
