Max Bass

i'm trying to max out my power with what i have. i have a VR3 (virtual reality sound labs) 2 channel bridgable 200 watt/100 rms watt amp with 2 Lightning Audio subwoofers that can put out 150 watts rms they are in a closed box. the bass is alright it's just very little of it bridging it made it sound a little better but i wired both directly to one channel and it was putting out the bass i wanted at a loud volume but it ended up blowing out my previous speakers... my deck is a 160 watter so how can i max this out...??

1st: Welcome to CarAudio.com

2nd: Your subs do not put out 150w RMS power. That's the maximum continuous power input that they are rated to handle safely. Subwoofers do not put out power - they accept it.

3rd: Please do not take this as bashing as it is not intended as such but rather meant to be constructive criticism...before your next major car audio purchase it might be a good plan to save a bit more money and look to other sources than Wal-Mart for your gear. The vast majority of the stuff sold there just isn't anything that will last you or provide you with the sound you're after.

4rth: Bridging that amp probably wasn't the best of ideas. I would wager that it isn't stable below 4 Ohms in bridged mode and connecing both of your subs to the single bridged channel most likely presented the amp with a 2 Ohm load (assuming you connected both positive inputs on the subs to the one positive amp output then the same for the negative sides of all of it ~ this is known as wiring in parallel)

5th: I do not know of any method to 'max out' the output of a head unit. No stereo internal amps that I know of (please someone correct me if this is erroneous info) are bridgeable. Please do not pay attention to that "160 watts peak output" rating on your stereo. You'll not ever get that amount of clean, usable output from it.
