Max and Peak Power?

What is the diff. in the max and peak power? Confused

peak and max is just a waste if u ask me. You have to go by RMS .Cuz when u buy a amp you have to look at the rms at each ohms it puts out. 2 of those subs a 1000 watt amp should work just fine.

I was told when you first turn on electronics such as an amplifier and look at it on a scope for a millisecond the power spikes. That is where they get peak power. /shrug

Just what someone told me so I don't know for sure that it is right.

peak is somthing that is only reached for like a millisecond as u allready said. dont worry about peak or max u want to go by what the amp puts out for each ohm. And as far as the sub u want to go by the rms . U dont want to try to send 1200 rms to a sub that can only handle lets say 450 rms. My friend did that cuz he seen on the box in big numbers 2000 watts max. yea but the rms was like 450.

oh alright so numbers dont really matter that much? I was comparing sub specs and some other subs have higher RMS, and I know my subs are much better.

well it comes down to the company . some subs have a higher rms then others and cost way less then some other subs that have less rms. i had to fi ssds and i was sendin around 800 rms to each of the subs and that was fine. As far as numbers yea there a big part just the rms of the subs and what the amp does at each ohm. lets say it does 1200 rms at 1 ohm. then the rms of the amp puts out a lower amount of power at higher ohms
