My guess is most of those with the smart *** answers are younger, without a family yet. When I was young I did not care for the cops too much but honestly as with everything there are good ones and bad ones.

There are ones out there shaking down the kids on the block stealing money and dealing drugs themselves and then there are the ones who are out there to make a difference in your town and keep you and your family safe.. my guess is the amount of goods ones far outweighs the number of bad.

By virtue of paying SS tax I should expect some when I retire...doubt I get it though.
maybe there are more important things than your stolen stereo, maybe cop shops are understaffed, maybe you just happened to deal with the 1 out of 10 cops that just happens to be an *******. No matter what its prejudice to judge all by one or two.

I just want one police man to prove to me on a personal level that he/she was valuable and that would be enough.

I try to discover cost savings for the government. One minor tweak in a process saves many times my salary....that is how I directly provide value to all taxpayers. I (hope) to save them money.

I guess that depends on how you define harassment. If they cut in line at the grocery store because they are the police, I consider that harassment.

Start reading your local city police's arrest reports, its quite evident they don't just sit around all day/night and never remove scumbags from the streets. You make it sound like they have zero value add to society and we should all "self police"

Illegal immigration costs us way to much, in social services and police/jail/prison costs. Fix that drain first then when the cops have more time on their hands, start assessin their processes

Agreed...implemented properly, I think school is a far better investment than police.

Can't do simple numbers like that. There are per capita crime statistics from area to area that change so can't compare. Also the judge, gov attorney, and jury (if it goes that far) throw a wrench in the works as well.

Statement was made though that if we just had self policing its obvious we'd be in a world of shit

snyder in south philly. you from kensington? now thats a badass neighborhood. I remember I went there for that cheesesteak place down frankford and kensington at night, and within the span of 10 mins i saw like 20 cop cars.
