Massive Audio ck6 vs Hat Imagine

Here is a review and comparison of both:

HAT I6 vs Massive CK3 - DIYMA Car Audio Forum

(ck3 was a typo)

I run HAT Imagine in active mode. I have been enjoying them so far. The tweeters are fairly detailed and not harsh at all. Some people described them as harsh, but maybe that running with the built in crossover. The mids are very good. They can be a treat when listening tracks with good quality midbass content. These speakers often compel me to listen to many of my played out and tired albums. A lot of stuff that I used to judged as boring now sounds fantastic due to more detail and dynamics. They reveal a lot more than any other speakers I have heard. Overall a great buy IMO. These are installed in my old beater project car. I do feel now compelled to use HAT Clarus speakers for a completely new build.

The only issue I notice with these is that I don't get a feeling of a muscular and at the same time smooth midrange. The mids seem to have kind of harsh unpleasant peaks in the vocal range, specially with some female singers, at a high listening volume. I reduced 1KHz band by 2dB, and that seems to help, though that makes the vocals a tiny bit recessed. I do want to investigate the issue with an RTA setup some day. This could have to do with the recording itself or my amp features though.

Odd that you would say that about Imagines. Mine seem to lack in the midrange and I compensate with a bit of a bump at 1.5KHz. Otherwise they sound hollow and undefined. Maybe it's differences in install...

Looks like the CK6V is discontinued anyways... Replaced with the CK6X but they are $300 for the Xs $170 for the Vs.. Ghey....

After this thread I'm not so sure on the HATs now..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/spank.gif.0d78e34d42ea8780359e903aeb6697d6.gif
