MASSIVE +550sqft. Second Skin Deadener Installation Worklog!!!

Very nice job man. I also must have lost weight when I did my trunk and back dash. i must have been putting that stuff on for like 6-7 Hrs...Only did 125 Sq. Ft. 1 layer...2 in some spots

The stupid-azz rain pevented me from doing jack !@#$ this weekend, so I managed to get a little bit done...this weekend I sludged the trunk. You are looking at about 0.8gallons worth of sludge...i was not able o hit every square inch of the trunk, but I hit all of the major spots big time.

We'll have to see how things go this week, hopefully Katrina does not decide to come in and 'rain-on-my-parade'! (no punm intended]

Ok, so now it's time to start deadening the doors...I am going to first start off with one of the rear doors. The first thing that I did was run my own speaker wire...what you see is my Silver Plater Knuknoceptz Kasa Kable (14AWG)...it's threaded through the door grommet and enscased in wire loom. I will have to seal it off with caulk later.

Next up we see the door switch latch rods covered in wire loom...you'll see why in a minute!

Now, the first thing that I did was add one layer to the door panel itself...

...then we add the first layer...

...and then we are all done with the second layer!

This deadening was EASY. It took me about 30 to 45 minutes per layer, with a total of 2 layers damplifier exactly per door. These things are now **** sealed!!! I will follow up with the other rear door and one front door.

Great work on the doors man. I'm still debating if I want to deaden my doors. I would like to do my whole car some day. But Great work man. Looks nice. Did you find doing the doors was hard or did it go by easy?

I hate my doors - the speaker mounts to the doorcard itself, and there's so much junk behind the card, there's no space to work with it. Great idea on looming the doorhandle rods, that might be a great workaround for the problem I'm having with my lock-popper.

Good post!

INCREDIBLY easy. Each door took me about 2 hours to do:

- 1 layer on the door

- 2 layers on the frame

- Loom the rods

- Run new cable through the OEM grommet

I HIGHLY recommend trying it for yourself...it is the EASIEST part I have deadened thus far. I have 1 door left to go...more pics coming up tonight! (rear deck, roof, 2 other doors)

cant wait mr maxima //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I have next week off for the install...look for the pending worklog. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

DELAY ON PICS UNTIL LATER TONIGHT...

...Adding a THIRD layer to the doors & second to rear deck!!!

Ok, so after an inverntory check, I found that I have WAY more Damplifier than I thought. Soooo...I can now put hella heavy layers on everything. I wish I would have known this earlier, I would have put a second layer on the trunk. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Anyway, here we see the passenger door with 1 layer on the door, THREE LAYERS on the frame:

And another passenger door with ONE layer on the door, THREE layers on the frame...

i think if your gonnakeep that car for at least 5 years its worth doing that amount of deadening- you will enjoy it every time you drive- i wouldlove to own/drive a car that had been deadend like that, but there is no way in hell im gonna do all that work. i wouldrather just buy a 4000wrms amp and get over the road noise that way! but my hats off to you for doing it.

how many hours you think you will have in the job by the time its all finished and back together?

It only works if you send rca signal through it to your amps.
