all marine ply is, is ply that is treated. Example pressure treated 2X4 weighs more than a regular 2X4 at the same dimensionshi guys
thanks for the quick reply!
i'm not talking about normal ply wood, this is marine ply and it weighs a ton.
guys says its water proof and extremely hardy.
I've always used MDF cos its easy to machine and relatively cheap, but just taking a look at other materials
guy at the shop said there are some DIY pple using it to make spkrs boxes.
so just need some input from u guys
but thanks again!
cheers all!
The important thing in building a box is rigidity and density. The latter more than the former. You could always brace it so that the rigidity is up to par, but in order to increase density you have to double up and what not. Find out what that "Marine Ply" is made out of. (What kind of wood) and research that wood, see how dense it is compared to MDF, Trupan, Birch, etc. I believe Birch is the most dense out of the three before it.hi guys
