marine corp??

Im really thinin about joining the marines, i figure it would be good for me, any opinin on this ??
it will definately transform you into a new person..... its like night and day from my cousin before he joined to now!! :patriotic

One of my friends went in Spring of this year......I don't know how it is for other people, but he became a COMPLETELY different person, and sad to say, he became a piece of shit. When he came back, all he wanted to do was get drunk and harass girls. I mean this is litearlly all he would do, all day every day. I went to a bar with him his first night back, and every girl he saw he went up to and said (a direct quote) "hey, I'm a marine, let's go somewhere and fu*k."

I know quite a few marines (or jar heads as we know them :p). Personally, I wouldn't join them ever because of my personality traits/flaws.

Just know that the marines are a 4 year commitment to the government, your country, and will involve some of the best years of your life. Do some research by asking people who have been through the training and been sent overseas; it's not a regular job where you can just bail when you don't agree with the boss or things get overwhelming. Some people can do it and some people crack under the pressure.

yea thats bascally what happened to my brother, my dad wanted him to go b/c he was in the marines back and the day and said that it would either make u or break u, but for my brother when he came back he started smokin and dippin which b4 he went he never wanted to even smell a ciggarette or dip, so im guessin the marines has lightened up from what it used to be

Putting your life through military is a WHOLE different ballgame. You will see the world differently once you get used to it. People seem lazy, dishonest, lack of honor, and in dire need of discipline. Basically, you change, and chances are, you won't come back to being "normal".

You put your body through immense pressure, and you go thorugh things that you can't imagine when you're a civilian.

Now, I don't know if you have lot of physical abuse in the US military, but I guess you will go through some sort of punishment one way or the other. You can be a football player and still think it's way tough (that's only when you're given time to think).

Nothing will prepare you for what the military has in store for each individual.

If you do decide to enlist, then congratulations, you'll be a real man, albeit a different one.

I had a couple friends recently come back from the marines. One of them in particular was in really good shape. Strong as an ox and unbelievably fast. He said he was not nearly in shape compared to what he was after boot camp. He said if he had it to do all over again, he probably would, but according to him there's a lot of b/s that goes on. He said if his brother hadn't gone the same time he did, neither one of them would have made it. I had him talk to my brother who was supposed to leave for boot camp in November, and I guess whatever it was they had to say scared the hell out of him, b/c he bailed out on it. The only thing I can say that I heard them constantly repeat, is that nothing you can do will prepare you for what you will be put through.

My Brother-In Law who thought he was Mr. Badd Azz went in the Marines about a year ago. A week and half later was back home. All he could say was it almost drove him insane.

Joining the military takes dedication. I'm a SSgt in the Air Force or as most would say Chair Force, and it requires alot of time. I would never talk down about the other branches because I commend those who are a part of it. I chose the Air Force because it was more suited to my goals. Now I'm considering becoming a Special Agent in the Air Force, its were I work now but not as an Agent. It requires a large amount of time away from family and in dangerous areas. ABC will be doing a segment on the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the world will get to see how large of a role the AF plays in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

My advice: Be 100% sure of your decision. Look past your pay, jobs, and travel. Think about where you want to be 4 yrs from now and if the Marines can help you get there then go for it.

Before my tour in the Army was over I was offered the opertunity to interservice transfer over into the USMC. It was a great choice. The only thing I didnt like was having to do basic training all over again. I served 3 yrs in California. My last year was supposed to be in Okinawa but I served in SW Asia during the 1st Gulf War.

I saw the military as just another job. If you have a positive attitude about what your doing then you'll love it. If not then it can be the worst 4 yrs of your life. You have the option of going into the field of your choice. Ex: mechanic, administration, maintenance, communications, foot soldier, artillary, and many others. So its not like your doing physical training all day. In most units its like an 9-5 job where you get the evenings and weekends off.
