Marine audio

Hi everyone,

I live aboard a sailboat that is wanting a good sound system. We, like cars and trucks, have 12vdc as our prime power source. We aren't cutting edge, nor competitive audiophiles. We're retired people who enjoy good fidelity from our iPod, DVD's & CD's. We'd like to get the boat set up with 4 separate listening zones. In the main area, the saloon, we'd like to have a 5.1 system. The other spaces would probably be OK with just 2.1 or just 2.0 systems.

So I guess I'm talking about amplifiers, crossovers, switching, speakers, wire, terminals, etc. All of which will live in the salt air of a damp boat. If you are inclined to respond to our plans, please keep in mind that we are looking for a low wattage, low end, low cost solution to sound aboard our home.

Thanks in advance, Doug

Hey Doug ...You'll probally have to use a home theater switching device...for the different areas.....just make sure you use Marine friendly amps and speakers.....They are designed for adverse conditions....There are several nice Marine receivers available including access to XM or Sirius Digital Radio
