Manual for everyday driving?

does that burn the clutch or anything?
it creates heat (natural enemy of everything), but you arent doing it for long at all, and a clutch pack is made to deal with heat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif . its whole purpose is to engage and disengage, so it is built for friction (up to a point ) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My first 'up-hill-take-off,' there was some jackass in a small *** car, and I was driving my '79 Chevy, which has a 4" lift, and 36" tires, so I can't see them little cars behind me, if they're right up to my bumper. Long story short, my insurance company paid for a whole front clip for the guy's car. I think it was a little Miata. I think the funniest part was the burn out mark on the top of the guy's bumper.

well specifically the car is going to be a EVO if i get one, so no off roading

driving is mostly either a highway or a backroad for a tollbridge with alot of turns, i go from house to college and only time im in traffic is from college to work for like 5 mins

i think i would enjoy it more, i just need to mess around on stopping at a lot of lights and such and hills
For ME everyday driving is great with my 6spd. I sit in 20 minutes of red lights every 1000 ft or so both ways to work and the rest of my commute is moving somewhat steadily. The problem yuo will have is that the clutch in the evo is stiff. Your leg will need some getting used to it if you drive in traffic on your commute.

To keep your clutch alive longer, don't stand on the clutch while at a light or in very slow moving traffic, put it in neutral and release the clutch.
just dont forget to put it in 1st when the light turns green...

or like the kid that went through the drive through to through the soda at the lady serving him but failed....

and if there is ever a problem - manual tran's are usually a little easier and cheaper to fix (still a pain in the *** and expensive tho lol)

and...

if you leave the car in neutral when you turn it off - make sure to pull the emergency brake up!!!!!

i forgot too once and my car started rolling away - good thing my friend was still sittin in the passenger seat cause it would of been interesting considering i already locked my door =) lol

and remember to pull it up when you drive away -

i know someone here (besdies me) gotta thought their car was broken for like 2 seconds cause they forgot

this is how my car got a smashed muffler from the previous owner. the ebrake doesnt work and it rolled back into a dirt hill. i have to put my car into gear every time i get out, so i can never leave it running unless i know its on level ground and wont roll

I had stock Civic clutch and than LS Swap with a exedy stg3....that was night and day.

Civic clutch, you can feather forever and its the easiest to learn on in my opinion..its soooo forgiving.

When i went to the new clutch it took some getting used to...had a stronger grab point....still could feather it but alot slower than stock.

Hills are a pain...or if u stuck on a bridge when the draw goes up...i hated it but its nothing when u been driving it for a few months...actually a few weeks prolly...youll catch on really quick....good luck

i dont think ive see a drawbridge in my life //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

1 thing i forget about manuals is the parking brake, i always forget its there and stall it out a few times till i realize it, i dont know if ive ever used mine on the X

One thing, if you have any lower back issues -- especially sciatica (sp?) --- hitting that clutch can be a b!tch. Also, you may be able to handle the clutch on one vehicle with no problem and the next will hit it just wrong.

Yall think trying to learn on an upgraded clutch in your little import is hard...try learning in a huge 92' Ford F-150 with a completely burned out clutch. You'll be able to drive anything after that.

The difference being you had torque and they don't //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
