manual cars are the sh1t

i am never going back to automatic, ever again. I went to go pick up my second 85 camaro from north carolina (she manual) drove the b1tch back home, and possibly had the most fun ever driving a car in awhile. Aside from the few times i stalled out in first gear at some stop lights which was pretty funny with all the drivers behind me honking at me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

oh, and i put my window too far down at a toll booth that it fell down into the door, so i was driving in the cold weather freezing my fingers off.

nga , you just learning how to drive a manual? LOL. manuals are fun , but contrary to popular believe a automatic (edit: properly built automatic) is faster (for the average driver) , UNLESS....................you know where your motor makes the most power , when to shift into each gear to utilize the powerband of the motor more efficiently , and most of all........how to not stall out at red lights. ;]

I haven't driven a manual since long ago when i was 12 years old driving a big ol truck helpin my dad haul a bunch of sh1t from a garage.

First gear is just tricky right now for me, its either I burnout and leave other cars in smoke, or i stall out. Im fast learner though.

another trick till you get the hang of it is idle up the motor a bit. if it's correctly idling it should be around 800 rpms , idle it up to around 11 or 1200. I did that in my 89 for my old lady and she never stalled it again.

It is idling at 1000-1100

my bad , its a v8. my 89 was a wimpy v6 , i forgot. The v8's idle a little higher 1K is perfect for the v8. you just gotta get the hang of it. It won't take long. I made her drive up and down our street stopping and starting till she could make 10 launches without stalling and she was good to go. never stalled a manual again.

why? i bought it for 200 bucks running and driving , threw a 350 in it for 300 bucks off cl , and 200 dollars worth of pawnshop bass. thats a weeks worth of work and 700 dollars. I beat the piss outta it and then sold it for 3 grand. :]

And FYI , the newer v6's are pretty bad *** with a manual. my 89 v6 was ghey (2.8L) , but my 97 with a v6 (3.8L) was pretty quick. And believe it or not , the newer v6's make more power than the older v8's do. My 97 was 205 HP , the 80's model camaros with a 305 were only 145-200 HP depending on motor , and the 350's only around 250 hp by the end of the third gen camaro's lifetime. but all of the v6's in the 3rd gen camaros were ghey , the 3.8's in the 4th gen camaros were nice though.

If you care about driving, then it's all manual or nothing, period. Manumatics and paddle shifters do not count.
