making your own alcohol?

have you never cooked before?
the yeast in bread isn't active anymore, i don't think it would do you much good
have you never made homemade booze before? It is well known that the yeast in bread is sufficient to turn sugar into ethanol... hell, thats how inmates used to/still do, make their own booze.

To get the higher proofs, you have to turn to distilling which is illegal for private individuals to do in the US.QUOTE]
Wrong. It is only illegal if you have the intent to distribute it. Self consumption is alright. Searching "making vodka" on google and alot of sites will pop-up. Pretty much yeast, sugar, and mollasses in the right quantitys will make a white rum:D

even if it weren't legal, nobody will bother you unless you're distributing or making a fuss about it.

growing pot's illegal, and the only people who get in trouble are those who sell it or talk about it.

You need lots of heat, tho, it'd probably be cheaper to buy a bottle, in all honesty

You dont know his situation haha, he doesnt need a life lesson, and if he can budget in drinking some cheap booze here and there, and thats what he wants to spend his money on, he may as well.
your right, but he's saying he can't afford 20bucks A GALLON. that's crazy cheap and if his tolerance is above that every couple days and he can't afford it then there is a problem, i don't care and was mainly poking fun but tis true

EDIT: coming from someone who use to drink atleast a couple fifths a day and still toke routinly so meh.

We are both partially incorrect. If you go through all the legal bullshit and end up looking at United States Code Title 26 Subtitle E Chapter 51 Subchapter J Part I Section 5601 and 5602 (I just listed all that to exemplify how deep this is all buried) you will find that you can only operate a still that has a 1 gallon capacity then the US gov't will tax you so that it costs you 1000x more than what you save. So, it technically is not illegal but to do it legally will cost you.

I don't think that anyone will really bug you if it is for personal consumption and you are running more than a 1 gal capacity, but it still isn't lawful. I would only be scared if someone was out to get you, and they tipped the Feds off.
