Making my first box!

Hey guys,

making my first enclosure tomorrow, never built one before, no knowledge.

i need ALL tips, as i do not want to mess up

so all tips plz! i have 115LBS of the MDF board, 8x4 ft, i think im good.

i will be assembling it first, as in getting all screws in and built no glue, then taking it apart and re-gluing, should i glue with screws in ? etc.

i got my dad to build me one last week, get a countersink bit aswell.

he pre drilled holes, then screwed it together, took it apart, glued it together (cept the top) cocked it all, then glued the top on, screwed it together.

Honestly no need for screws, if you have ample amounts of clamps, the glue bond will be stronger then the wood itself

i wouldnt trust them all that much for precision . just make sure you check yourself. they usually dont mind unless they're c@cky ones

Go in 1 1/2 to 2inches from the corners and predrill the holes or you will risk splitting the wood. Use 1 5/8 coarse thread drywall screws. I like to measure at least 3times before cutting and use screws wherever you can, in combination with the glue. For glue, most use Titebond I/II, I personally use Loctite Heavy Duty construction adhesive, but its cure time is a rather long 7 days.
