The list:
Vehicle : 1997 e36 m3 sedan
Location in the vehicle: trunk buttressed against rear seats, firing forward
Space available (Length x Width x Height): 30 x variable x 15
Subwoofer make and model: SA12 http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/woofer_measurements/SA_Series_Manual(10-12-15).pdf
Subwoofer Size: 12
Number of Subwoofers: 1
AMP: kicker dx300, 700wrms @ 2ohm
Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.): aero
What type of music do you like?: electronic, rap, alternative
Is your goal SPL or Everyday Music?: daily
Tuning Freq (Hz): SD recommened 35hz but will that be good for dub step/trap/rap?
Volume : loud but clean
So I've done lots a of research and ready to make the box. I have sketchup but man it is confusing and ended up using Speaker Enclosure Volume Calculator
Seems to work for calculating enclosure size but I'm a little confused on how to port it correctly.
1. how do i decide what port diameter to get. smaller is shorter which is cheaper but is that ok? according to the website's calc's a box with 1.6 cubic ft will need a 2" x 2.5"port but a 3" length increases dramatically to 6.8"
2. where does the port get installed on the box or does it matter
3. is carpenter/wood glue and brad nails enough to hold the box together?
4. where is a good place online to buy all the little misc parts: terminal cups, carpet etc
5. any other suggestions are very welcome!
TIA
Josh
