Make your own Copper Ring Terminals?

Ok I gave it a try.. Bought 5ft of 1/2in Copper. Should make about 30 terminals. Which comes down to 40 cents each. Less then 1/2 the cost. Not sure if I will use them or not. But I'll go ahead and give a few more a try to see if I can get better. I do have a 20 Ton press I will try at this instead of using anvil and a hammer.

The one on top is what I tried first.. Bottom one was my 2nd try at it..

Sure half the cost is nice but when you're talking less than a dollar per terminal it doesn't add up to much unless you need a TON of them. I don't think I've ever used more than maybe 10 per install. I guess if you were a shop and did installs every day it would save money over time but it takes time to make each one and your time has to be worth something...

I'm just doing it to do it really. Was wondering how hard it really was. Ya it doesn't save you a ton, but doesn't take that much time either. I would hate to make a lot of them for a large install. But locally 1/0 Terminals cost $6pr. Online it's much cheaper, but I have to wait. If your in a time crunch and budget.

Not bad looking. Id make that tube a lil longer for more wire grip. i always solder my terminals in. Blow torch and some 60/40 rosin core. Easy stuff. As for waiting time. We have all had crazy wait times. Like waiting for subs that take 2 months or ordering everything for an install just for them to have that one crucial thing out of stock.

if there is anything ive learned about car audio and tuning. Its that patience is key.

Aint that the truth going on almost 3 months for mine and still looking at 4-5 more... Its killing me lol

But they dont look bad maybe test them with store bought ones for heat and resistances somehow, idk if theres a way but there gotta be some way to do it.

Well I got it down pretty good and doesn't take but a few minutes. I only grabbed 1/2 tubing. Which fits the NVX 1/0 and TryStar Wire, but I was needing to use it on my Mechman 1/0 for my BIG 3. The NVX and Mechman 1/0 have the same about of Strands, but the Mechman is so loosely packed with a loose jacket. The Strands don't stay packed together as well. So it's a pain to slide into the 1/2 tubing. The NVX did it easy. I needed up using Mechmans supplied Terminals instead.

I ended up using the end of a 2x4 and hitting it with a hammer to get a smoother smashed end on the tubing. Then a few taps on the anvil. Made it look much cleaner then my first 2 done.

Here it is before I drilled the hole and cut it from the tubing.

And now slide over the NVX 1/0 Ground wire.
