Make your own Copper Ring Terminals?

Does anyone here just make their own from Copper piping? Any downsides from doing this?

Just get the pack for like 10 bucks. I can get 3 pure copper lugs at the local hardware store for idk..6 dollars? Im not sure what your goal is here..

Goal is to save a few bucks.

It just adds up was all. Looked easy enough and they look the same.

I dont have any pics but from just imagination. Id assume you get small copper tubing. cut say 2 inches of it off. Smash half of it. Then drill a hole through the flat part. That gaves you the tongue and then you solder/crimp in the wire into the tube part of the copper and you essentially have a copper ring terminal

I mean. It really depends on how many you are going to need.

Interesting...would be pretty easy to do with a vice but how much do you really save? Copper tubing isn't cheap and once you add in the labor I'm not sure it's worth it.

Seams like you would burn the cable before the lug was hot enough for a proper solder

Bad crimp=resistance

resistance=heat

heat=burned electronics

A proper crimp goes alot further than most realize

Lowes has 1/2in x 10ft Pipe.. That will easily make 60 lugs. That's about 18 cents each. I think I can make them pretty easy and look nice. I'm going to give it a shot I think.
