MAJOR PROBLEM plz help..

I have a 12" Type-R 1221D (2ohm + 2ohm load) and it sounds nothing like it should. I know this cause my freind had exact same sub and it sounded 30X better, even though he hadtoo much power too it and blew it. Ive heard others. The solid bass is... well decantly clear but when a hard drum hits or bass hits it sounds like complete A$$! I have a Pioneer deck, Kenwood KAC-819 which gives 300X1 RMS @4 ohms. Have subwired to 4 ohms, and i have tried about a 1ft^3 box and around a 1.38 ft^3 box. Both... a$$. I am tempted to get the Alpine amp, MRV-t420 which gives 340 or so RMS. Since alpine can handle a little more power, but im afraid to do too much. That will most likley help, but any other recomendations. I know it should sound better than it does. Anything with be nice. i cannot find any leaks at all, and waht kind of improper set ups?

Ive also made 2 boxes for it, and i KNOW 1 has no leaks... took em 6 hours of perfection and 1 tube of caulk. Used a table saw to all cuts were straight... im sure its not leaking.

i am tempted to send it into alpine and have them take a look at it, i have only had it since april, so i dont know. Thats why im all over the forum as of now.

have you tried different amps with the sub?

would alpine support that in their warrenty? I gave it exactly what it wanted, 300W 1.0 size box never abused...
