i would have to agree with thadman. everybody gets on a certain products dick for a while then shit on it later when something a lil better comes out. this happened with the hifonics amps dei/viper/orion, xxx, brahma, rlp and both gens of mags. the arsenal series is basically the "new and improved" ava's to technically it can be brought BNIB w warrenty just not under the ava name which means nothing since "avalanche" aint on the product anywhere but the shipping label anyway. i've heard the ava but not magnum (the couple of times i met up with rangerman he had his magnum but his setup wasn't working and it was claw basket) but until i see someone give each its rated power and the same amount more in the same exact vehicle each in a enclosure the same size for the drivers (meaning what would be considered "small" medium" "large" for the driver) and shows a 5 db or more advantage on the TL or more in the mags favor i wave my BS flag that the mag will destroy a ava unless it is a quantum leap from the claw basket. i'm not saying its can't be better since i haven't heard the magnum but i would doubt if it "owns" the ava.Let me look at things for a second

how come there was a whole page saying "mags" but no one questions why they voted for them or asks has they heard both but as soon as someone votes ava they get questions on wheter they heard both or not

how come every one votes mag but shows no TL meter reading to prove its louder

There were atleast 10 other mag owners that voted for it. So take my vote out if you want. That is perfectly fine.

And the new mags are MUCH better in just about every way possible than the older claw mags. That has been discussed many times on here.

How about we leave it at this.

There are plenty of VERY satisfied mag owners out there, that are proud of their product and want to suggest it to others looking for a great system.

And there are also many satisfied AVA. owners out there that really like the sound of their subwoofers.

10 peoples opinions who've heard Mags arent worth shit if they havent also heard a Ava

...twice the price for a 1-2dB difference at best doesnt seem worth it. Even if the Magnum is louder than the Avalanche, you'd gain 6dB by adding another Ava so it doesnt seem like a contest at all to me. You'd have to use a TL to be able to notice the difference anyway...your ears arent sensitive enough to notice 1-2dB at 140dB+ @

Im arguing that 2 ...well most super woofers (RLPs, TC2k/3k, IDMax, Flatline, Ava, Arsenal...the list goes on and on) would be louder than a single Mag and be cheaper

2 Avas would definetley be louder than a single Mag...EASILY

they'd also be more linear in their strokes, have less distortion, and more easily accept equalization (more headroom)

All of which is relative to install and environment in which it is housed.

I had a pair of sx's doing 167's with a 20.1 in the blazer....

And said user can probably buy 10 P5's for the same amount and be loud and have more "linear" stroke than a Mag at the same volume...but it will sound like crap (linearity does not spell SQ). And you're now comparing multiple drivers vs. a single driver. Driver vs. driver (NOT multiple drivers vs. a single) is another story.

multiple drivers does apply here if the said driver costs less than half the price of the other driver...

Both drivers are extremely high quality, low distortion, high excursion superwoofers...

The magnum at 25mm of throw will have far more distortion than 2 Avas each with 13mm of throw

2 Ava 15s will cost the same as 1 Magnum 12...

Kickers are not SQ drivers...and while we're here talking about SQ (anything 140-150dB+ is NOT sound quality...it is NOT what the artist intended when he/she wrote the music)

distortion is DIRECTLY related to SQ...unless you like distortion?

The magnum costs more than twice the price of the Avalanche...it just isnt practical for daily drivers when the competition is so much cheaper.

I have to say one last thing,

 

I was very impressed when I tested the Mag. Rarely has a sub put a kool-aid grin on my face after 15 seconds of listening. There are plenty of people who reccomend the MAG without even hearing it, which is not the best thing to do. But I feel it is worth the money for sure if it fits your needs.
