magnum is a great choice and is up there with other SQL drivers........personally i have a XXX15 (another GREAT SQL driver) that ported is retardedly loud (146+ dB) yet still maintains its SQ...... get a good decent SQL driver and port it and no matter what u go with, if ur box is built right and ur amp power is right and your install is done right, ported will pound ur skull senseless....

Ported can still have good sound quality if done properly and will get louder. More than likely you would prefer ported. Ask around and get designs from someone if you don't have em.
