Magnum a SPL Sub?

Is the magnum more of a spl or sql sub? Im using a 1.5 enclosure and 1200watts rms. I want a pure spl sub with a little sound quality so is this the perfect sub for me? Thanks for the feed back i apperciate it.

It's more of an SQL sub...but I've heard Mags get quite loud on a meter.

Like the name implies - "SQL" subs are designed for a mix of both sound quality and output, while "SPL" subs are designed more for sheer output. It's a vague description because by fiddling with the enclosure specs, one can change a driver's sonic character by a lot.

Mag's can peform very well in the SPL lanes if you tune your system properly. However, there are other subs out there that are probably better suited to your tastes if you really don't care how the driver sounds.

i think that ill stick to the magnum. i throw it in 1.6ft^ sealed and that should thump hard and sound good.

What type of vehicle do you drive if you didn't already mention it? I had mine in a little smaller sealed box and it was great in my hatch, but REALLY woke up with a larger box. By the way about "sql" and "spl". Which would give you the feeling of your chest ripping apart?

an axe will rip apart your chest better than a subwoofer will.
