Mach 460 Replacement

Hey, this is my first post here, I am just getting into car audio and this seems like a pretty good place to start! I have 1995 Mustang GT convertible and I want to replace the Mach 460 system that it came with. Frankly, its sounds like crap. I want to get a new headunit and speakers but there are two head units in the car, one is a tape deck and one is a cd player. How would I go about replacing this stuff?
