Trying to find out if MA Audio is a considered hi end or low end audio. I would like to know were they stand before I cough up the money for their stuff.

id say in the middle they overrate alot of stuff at 17volts.

they don't overrate. they rate their stuff at 17 volts, and they'll do that power there. ask scottie johnson. their biggest problem, imo, is that they are extremely current hungry. not real efficient amps. but my hk4000d did the power it was rated to do at 14.4 volts...3600wrms. and it's built like a tank.

and i'd consider it higher middle end stuff. if they were more efficient, maybe they would move up. there is better out there for the money, that's for sure, but they are far from the worst.

The HK series of products from MA Audio are worthy of competition use. The MA802 is a very b!tchy amp and has some weird requirements to function right but they do perform when needed if your doing burps. The HK model series subs and the EVO are ok too....just their lower lines are poo

I have used MA and Visonik products in the past. They did well enough, especially for the prices they were purchased for. The Class-X lines from both MA and Visonik have certainly done well in competition.

The subs are also a step up from the likes of Power Acoustik and Audiobahn from a build quality stand-point, at least as far as the lines that I have had my hands on. The glue joints and spider materials especially were a big step up, IMHO.

Overall... a good mid-level company with some products worthy of cometition usage.

I plan on buying the HK1000D, with 2 MA1000XL subs. The amp is rated at 800 watts rms with 14.4v. Right now its the only setup I can find around my price range.
