Lumina 2000 wiring help

Im putting a new head unit into my friend's 2000 Lumina, and cant figure out what wires are which. I have the four speakers seperated from the rest, so thats eight wires down., but there is like 6 left. If anyone has any help it is much appreciated.

Did you cut off the factory plug?

Other than the speakers, you have switched power (yellow), constant power (orange), ground (black or black/white), two different illumination wires (brown and gray, or brown/white and gray/white) and possibly speed sense (green). Make sure you didn't mix up the yellow or green speaker wires with the other yellow and green wires in the harness.

If you cut off the factory plug, next time leave it on and get a wire harness for the new deck.

Ok, I connected them to thier proper places, and the headunit turns on, but then goes off and wont come back on. when i disconnect the main power and try again it does the same thing, so i know that the memory is right. Do you think i might need to replace the ground or run a new one. I dont have a clue but that is my guess.
