any of you guys change oil for a living/job? im 18 and there is an opening in the lub bay at work. I would be downstairs doing the filters and rear end flushes and refills and all. What all is involved? Im guessing not much more than searching part numbers and making sure things are good and tight fitting?

Im a tire tech, i swap out tires and change oil... nothin to it really. Easy money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

its nasty in the hot summer months, youll come home stinking

i use to be a lube tech, that shit sucked i did that for 5 yrs. Umm u will be burned jus to be warned, make sure to double check that plugs and filters are tight before the car leaves, grease all fittings, and make sure u whipe up any access oil thats left, or sum dicks will come back and complain.

Always make sure that the gasket from the old filter is off the car sometimes they like to stick to the engine, esecially in brand new cars on their first oil change. U dont want to double gasket a filter oil will be everywhere. Also be sure to change plug gaskets when needed those things will leak.

Also be careful when taking and putting back drain plugs, its easy to strip the threads on a oil pan. Be sure to change out plugs that are worn out, and dont tighten the plugs to tight. Thats all the help i can give u for now

Thats really the main stuff, a good understanding of cars and their workings helps though.

I've been doing the Lube Shop thing for a couple years, and started out doing the basic detailing type stuff... Then moved through dealing with customers, doing hoods, and pit work, now i just do a bit of everything... I work part time doing the school year, and overtime during the summer.

Overall its a easy, but dirty job... Make sure you are a reliable person and are not gonna be leaving plugs/filters loose or out.

Also, please don't rip people off....

Good advice mang! I used to do it back in the day. I think I did it for a summer. Man it was hot and I remember burning the shit out of my arm. Oh well, shit happens eh. Glad I got out of that though. Not hard work, just sucked!
