Great little woofers. I actually know someone who ran a single sonance full tilt daily @ 1 ohm on an rd 1750.1 and he said it loved it. The box was sealed tho, but still.
the lvl 4 will want more power
One of the weakest drivers I've ever held in my hands and I've fondled my share. Does it work? Yes. The cone moves back and forth and moves air but aside from the motor, it uses insanely cheap parts. The spider is backwards, it's like a linear spider but the rolls are bigger near the coil and they get smaller as they near the outer perimeter. Mine had a downward bias right out of the box so the voice coil obviously wasn't centered in the magnetic flux. On top of that, it ripped away from the coil within minutes of use. The cone is a huge flimsy piece of plastic, about as stiff as my bed stand lampshade. The rubber surround has the feel of plastic and the stamped steel frame... well, who doesn't like a nice stamped steel frame? It produces an unbearable amount of noise with as little as a half inch of excursion and only gets worse as excursion increases. By the time you get to the two inch mark with a 20hz tone, it sounds like a lawnmower. All these features for only $250, what a deal!
