Which would be louder off of 1200 clean watts and the proper enclosure....12" RE Audio SX or 12" MTX 9500?

So my question is.....is the 9500 worth the extra $175 of sub and extra $50 for an amp that puts out the power at 2 ohms?

I have never really heard the sx, so I cant comment on sq,but the 9500 didnt sound all that great at all,The Re is cheaper and I think equally loud and it is nice to have something that know else has,(seeing that most people own kicker fosgate mtx etc)Personally I would be the sx

well, i know that 9500 has more potential...and DEFINITELY can take more power than that SX...I believe also has higher excursion by a decent amount. Id go with the 9500 man..i think its a very under-rated subwoofer...only it doesnt get many reviews because retail on them is just as much as the JL W-7....reason being is that was the main comptetitor when they came out with it....dealer cost is around 400-450 though, so if you know someone...take advantage of that. Even if you know someone at C.C. they could probably get you one.

mtx offer recones? if not go witih re... i have 2 sx 12s im selling b/c they didnt have the output of my SI mag 12s... great subs IMO... also my team mate has 5 sx 15s in his bonniville that really hurt ( 155db meca style m5 ) and each sub had only 1200 watts

ok, for an SX, 1200 is a good amount, should go any higher anyways....155 for 5 SX's...hmmmmm, aight i guess. BUT, MTX as of a few months ago...I talked to a rep and he said they had only had about 5 returns on the 9500's for blown voice coils....the sub is built like a friggin rock....i dunno if they do re-cones, but unless your sending it over 2000 watts I really wouldnt worry about it.

Plus a really nice thing about MTX is they warranty their subs for 3 years I think.

Well i can get the SX for $200 or the 9512 for $375. The 9512 has to be run at 2 ohms so to get enough power to it im gonna have to spend about $100 more dollars on that compared to the SX. Im not sure if its worth the exra $300+? How much of a difference would there be in terms of output if both were in the proper enclosure/install?

well if you already got an amp that'll power the SX then by all means go for it

Do not have the amp yet.....just that the amp for SX can be wired to 1 ohm (cheaper price to get the power) and the 9500 would have to be at 2 ohms (more expensive). Does anyone know a good amp that would power the 9512 that is affordable (around $250)? Any more opinions are DEFINATELY welcome.

All I have to say is my SX = teh loudness lol

Seriously though Ive never heard a 9500, And I havent heard a SX under 18 (15's, 12's)

My One 18SX is louder sealed than my 2 L7s Ported both on 1500Watts

Has anyone had any problems with the RE SX? I have never heard of anyone having problems with an MTX needing a recone or anything but have heard about RE's needing recones. Anyone had any problems with the SX? (I also heard about tinsel slaps or something)?
