Loudest 6.5 components

Sensitivity is tough some company's use peak others use average they don't tell you which. If you can get a frequency response graph it shows strong and week spots of a speaker. Remember double power for 3db so if a speaker is rated 93db and can take 50w and one rated 90db and can take 100w there equally loud at full power.

So my polks are rated for 92db at 100W. The RK6s are rated for 90db at 150W I believe. So their about the same loudness..

Maybe its my mind tricking me into thinking I want louder when I dont. A very annoying problem is even with 120W running to the polks, at super high volumes the tweeters/mids both love to distort. I mean actual audible distortion that you can hear..

Would I run into that with any of the higher end comps?

I forgot about this thread. DD

Morel

Dynaudio

HAT

all of those have great comps that will get loud and sound good.

pa speakers get loud, that is all.
I actually legitimately dislike this post, for once. PA speakers are great for getting loud and they don't sound THAT bad if you eq them. However, by the same token, for the most part I wouldn't recommend using them in a pure SQ system.

I must have missed where the OP said it was a pure SQ system. He seems to be more concerned with getting louder without distortion. The ID's in the vid seem loud, but 500watts per side. PA stuff will get that loud with MUCH less power. I'm running 60watts a side to some PB6.5's and they easily keep up with 48-49 on music.

And you don't have to do supertweeters. I'm running 2 Vifa's per A-pillar and they're more then loud enough and sound very good and match up with the PA mids nicely.

I don't think he did, I was just clarifying, that's all. And certainly, the PA midwoofers I have in my car are about 10 dB more efficient than the peerless HDS midwoofers I also have in there. Thus they'll reach the same volume with less than 1/8th the power.
