I have a 2002 Monte Carlo SS with a Solo X 18" in a 5.5 cube tuned to 38 hertz powered by a AQ2200. It aint bad, but i want to be LOUD. I want to be able to at least pull a hair trick, or make sure if you aint used to it, that it hurts your ears. I dont know the easiest way to do this.

Do I....

a. Make a bigger box and/or change tune? (can only make up to about 6.5 cubes)

b. More POWER! 4k rms ?

c. switch up the sub? 2 15"s? 4 12"s? or just 2 better 12"S

d. a and b

Hair trick will be pretty tough in a trunk, but more cone area, more power, and a lower tuning will help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

u got the right equipment. its all about tuning pretty much. my trunk does a small hairtrick on about 1500 rms and one dc level 5 15. its tuned at 32 htz and moves some air! tuned at 38 htz u aint gonna pull a hair trick. tune to 30-32 then u will be messing up some bishes hair dos! lol

ok. I will look what i can design. The only thing i am worried about is that this is a daily system. So the lower i go, the less music hits the lows. Is there still a good variety of songs that hit around 30?

what? the lower u go the more the music hits the lows. u will be missing higher bass. and 32 my system is still a great daily driver and not just some fan in the trunk

Cool, thanks. This is why i ask. I might try the 30 hertz.

Should i leave the box with port forward? or face it back? If i make the box larger then there will be almost no airflow around the sides and top of the box into the cabin. unless i make a wedge box or downfire the sub, it will have to face up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i 18 in a trunk is REALLLLLLY hard to get loud. you have to face it up which isnt great in a trunk or you can do a custom half wall but that will mean cutting metal out. you would be far better off with 10s or 12s in a trunk...

Get 2 15's and get at least 4k wrms and you'll be set.

Here is what i am looking at, but Unfortunatly this would still place my sub firing up with the port back. And i had a large box like this before and it was noticably louder with the trunk open. I would assume it was because of the airflow around the box into the cabin. any thoughts on this?
