loud system due to combination?

so my sister bought a system a few years ago and it was 2 12" kickers and an 800 watt MA Audio amp. in my opinion it wasn't pushing a lot of power but it was louder than a lot of systems i've seen running over 1500 watts.

i was at a local car audio store and they guy said sometimes subs and amps just go together well. is that true? is it just a fluke sort of thing?

lol, no I dont think that would be correct.

probably a high tuned box or maybe its the car, could be a lot of factors.

i mean I had 1 12 sealed off in my eclipse and it was loud as balls.

i had it in my grand prix, tons of trunk space.. and in a cavalier, rather smaller. it's in a sealed box. im not sure of the dimensions but there wasnt much room left in the box after the subs were put in.

and what do you mean by a high tuned box? sorry if it's a dumb question..

when you have a ported box you are suppost to tune it to a frequency. low boxes are tuned down at the 30hz range and higher burp boxes can be tunes up near 60hz.

The answer is no, it's not that the items just went well together.

More likely, it's a result of the combination of:

The box (construction, air volume, port area, port tuning)

The car (cadillac trunk? crx hatch? astro van? school bus?)

The position of the box in the car (facing back, forward, up? ports on the same side as subs?)

The crossovers, filters and equalization in place or lack thereof
