Loud POP sound when turning ignition off.HELP

In one post it suggest running 1/0 from the pos and neg of the main battery to the second battery .Is the neg 1/0 run absolutely necessary?Or can I use the exsisiting 4 awg. run that is already there. And since I'm running a new /fresh ground off the second battery, is it needed? I will do it if ya'll think it will make a difeerence. I'm about over this. Also, which are better, or is there a difference in disto blocks(1/0 in dual 4 awg out) and ring terminals.Screw down with allen, crimp or compression?

It's been shown that just a short and solid ground from the - battery terminals to the frame of the car is for all practical purposes about the same as running the extra wire to the back.

Shouldn't be any difference besides cost and personal preference in distros and terminals.

I'd be really looking to try to swap out the head unit since that's the most likely culprit.

OK , so i replaced the Pioneer with the Alpine. Cured the power pop, but then I was getting a sub"pop" when I went up/down on the volume with the rotary knob. So from 1-2-3-4-5-6..... I would get a pop for each inrement. Not very loud, but definitely annoying. So we switched back, my son said the turn off pop was better. So doing some tinkering, I found that if I removed the JL Bass control knob , the pop went away. So my question is I would like to keep the Bass knob, but not at the expense of the "POP".

Any ideas.
