so i lost my alarm clicker. i can get inside the car but the car wont start. my car is an hour away from my house because i lost it at a gig. i did have another clicker but idk where i put it and cant find it. i dont really mess with alarms and i didn't put it in. AAA doesn't mess with alarms and wouldn't help except a tow. so what are my options at this point?

there is a switch but i think it controls how sensitive the alarm is. i remember i had to use it during a car show one time, had to turn the sensitivity down cause of all the loud cars going by. idk i could be wrong though.

its a low end audiovox alarm from a few years ago with the clicker being an oval fake carbon fiber color if that helps

i just want to make sure that switch is it cause its an hour ride to the car. the only other option is to tow it and have my local shop disconnect the alarm i guess.

no they did, just its been a few years since then and forgot about it. just not sure if it is in fact the valet switch or a sensitivity control. i think i'll ride out there to give this a try. but in case that doest work, anybody know the color of the ignition wire for a 02 protege5?

disconnecting the fuses for the brain's main power should allow the starter kill relay rest which would let you start your car... the valet switch may be under the dash near the brain depending on your installer... it is going to be a spring loaded button. usually you would push/hold the valet switch and turn your key over and back to disable your alarm system.

if you take tools with you, you could manually bypass the starterkill relay... you'd bassically look for a wire in your ignition that has been split and has two other wires connected to each side (12ga ish wires) then connect the stock wires together.

Thanks guys, i got it started today by removing the fuses from the brain. still cant figure out what that button does though. it doest respond to anything like holding it and turning the key over and back or starting the car. oh well. now when the car is on, the alarm still clicks and is somehow still getting power through its harness even though the fuses are removed.

What alarm is in the car? The starter kill is what is preventing your car from starting. Depending on if the unit has an internal relay or not, Your starter wire is going to be cut and ran to a relay. Starter wire should be black with a blue stripe in that car
