Looking for an amp to power a PG Octane ZR 12d2

I have 1 Phoenix Gold 12" dual 2 ohm sub, and I want to buy a new amp for it. I am looking for recommendations. The sub is rated for 600W peak and 350W RMS... I would like to spend as little as possible, haha, but yeah, my budget is like $200 - $300 CDN. It will be wired in series, so it will be a 4 ohm load, unless I can find an amp that rocks at 1 ohm.

Any suggestions would be quite helpful.

xenon 400.1 maybe

Looks great, price is right, but... thats 600x1 RMS, which is nearly double what I am looking for.
No it's not. Well, it might not be. Depends on whether or not you're on board with the whole "give the speaker a bit too much power so that it performs to it's fullest" mentality. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you don't want to give it that much, I wouldn't recommend you use less than 400 watts.

I have serious doubts about that amp putting out anywhere near 600 watts. If it were me, I wouldnt go near the low line hifonics amps. You could probably find some xenon 400.1s on ebay for close to that price.

I agree. I've heard really good things about this line of amps, I just didn't think they were as easy to find anymore.
Isn't it like, dangerous, to output more than rated to a sub? causing it to blow?

If you get an amp more powerful than what the sub is rated at, then just set the gains accordingly. Its nothing more than having headroom. With that hifonics amp ide guess your getting closer to 400 watts rather than 600 anyways, seeing as how bad they over rate their equipment.

What makes you say it's overrated?
Because all hifonics lower lines are. Time and time again these amps get benched and put out far less than what they are rated. I will put money on it, that the amp wont do its rated power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
