Hey guys I just put a JVC HU in place of my Monsoon one in my jetta. There is already an amp in the trunk powering the speakers or somethin I guess. Would it be possible to have a separate amp powering subs that I will hopefully get soon and just leave the other amp in there?

If you have an amp from the factory and are adding a an aftermarket headunit, you will need to bypass the factory amp or you will have bad sounding speakers because the signal is amplified by the headunit then again by the factory amp. It is possible for a seperate amp to power the subs.

Well I already installed it. Got it from crutchfield so I had guides and everything. It sounds great though so I'm guessing I bypassed it? My knowledge is limited so if I wanted to right now, could I hook up another amp separate from the factory one, with one channel just to power the subs? Would I need to buy anything besides an amp/subs/wires?

If you didn't run new speaker wires, you probably didn't bypass it.

No, I didn't run any new speaker wires. It sounds awesome though so idk what kushy_dreams is warning about poor sound quality for. So if I just get the right wires/amp/subs/box that's all I will need? No new speaker wiring correct?

adding a sub has nothing to do with the speakers so you will be alright... Id be glad to sell ya just about everything you need for a sub setup if you want?

well I already have 2 old Kenwood subs and an amp so I just need a box and wires for a few months until I upgrade to something much better. What are you selling bc who knows maybe I'll upgrade now haha
