a couple of things:

first, can you elaborate a bit more on what you mean by "loud"? Do you want it loud enough to keep up with the sub, loud enough to hear it over road noise, loud enough to make your ears ring etc etc.

Second, by sharp highs do you mean you want harsh highs? or that you want detailed highs with "shimmer"?

if you are going active, there are many choices out there. you can drivers from

madisound.com, partsexpress.com, solen.ca etc

if you can elaborate a bit more on what type of sound you are after, i will gladly counsel you.

good luck

well, you know how when you are playing and instrument ,a cymbol, thats how i want them to sound and want them to be loud and not like a compression horn.as you put it i want them to shimmer and be loud. as for the midsi do want to hear them over road noise and keep up with subs and be loud at same time.i was lookin at these mid, http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=290-399&CFID=4974399&CFTOKEN=14494535 .i would just have to get a tweeter to match them.i wish i can here them to see what they sound like:crap:

i would suggest you look into a 2 way set up and choose from below:

woofers

dayton reference 8" (great midbass, strong performer)

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=295-376

peerless exclusive 7" (great detail and good midbass, what i run //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=986734.10657&pid=1949

seas p18rnx (great great midbass, probably one of the best i've heard in terms of bass performance)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=986734.10657&pid=2127

seas c18rnx (very linear, can be crossed over rather high)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=986734.10657&pid=1043

seas g18rnx (good detail)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=986734.10657&pid=1037

higher end woofers

seas w18ex (one of the most detailed, realistic woofers available to diyers, preferred by many audiophiles)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=986734.10657&pid=989

seas w18nx (performance equal to the seas lotus reference woofer, nextel cone, good midbass, overall a incredible woofer, i'd run this if i had the money)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=986734.10657&pid=1940

scanspeak (the woofer used in alpine f1 status speakers, genesis absolute components, a bit expensive and i think the w18rnx sounds better)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=986734.10657&pid=1165

tweeters

seas neo (one of the best performance bargains, i run a pair, very nice set for the money, can be crossed over pretty low)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8655765.12127&pid=2138

lpg 25 nfa (nice highend performance, should crossover above 2000 hz or can be harsh)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8655765.12127&pid=635

lpg 26 na (also good highend, not harsh, sounds like a metal.silk dome hybrid, also can't be crossed over too low)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8655765.12127&pid=637

large format tweets

peerless hds (nice tweets, plays low and detailed)

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8655765.12127&pid=2157

hiquphon ow1fs/owII (one of the best bargains, incredible performance at a great price)

http://www.ellisaudio.com/hiquphon.htm

highend tweets

seas excel millenium

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8655765.12127&pid=983

seas excel crescendo

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8655765.12127&pid=1938

scanspeak D2904/6000

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8655765.12127&pid=1142

scanspeak ring rev

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8655765.12127&pid=1151

morel supremo/piccolo

http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=8655765.12127&pid=694

seas lotus rt27f

http://www.mobilesq.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=27_30_23_33&products_id=161

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i would choose from these, there are other choices such as morel, dynaudio, vifa, audiotechnology, ology audio, etc but these have proven themselves to be some of the best for the price and i highly reccomend them.

If you want more detail about a specific item, feel free to ask, i only listed some short description to get you started.
