lookin for a 32" lcd hdtv...

hmm. Sounds like there is something fukked with the timing for the interlacing. Not sure what you'd do to fix it, but 1080i means it displays half the lines every other frame, so if its not coordinating those alternating frames with the correct timing I could see it causing something like that.
Just a guess though.

Does it happen with 720p?
Not sure. I haven't had it on long enough on 720p to find out. Everything comes through on 1080i or so it says in the corner of the TV when I change the channel. I will keep it on 720 to see if it does it. If it does, what does that mean? Maybe my TV is taking a shit? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I love this cheap TV!

1080P is smoother then 1080i.

in fact, anything is smoother then interlaced.

However, I would definately try and get a 1080p. 720p is great, but 1080p is just mind boggling. I was watching a Blu-Ray at Bestbuy and the picture was incredible.

Thats strange being I have 1 1080p set and 2 1080i sets and I have a very hard time telling the difference between picture quailty or smoothness. 1 TV was 3200 the other 4000 (Older XBR, goes to show how prices are going down, paid less for the newer bigger tv, lol!) and 950 for the Westinghouse.

Only thing I can notice is the Black levels being a lot better in the Sony's.

Well i mean, to each his own, but from what everyone has told me (on credible websites about the subject of interlacing and various other stuff, you know, while doing research) interlaced video always will be choppier.

Whether you can tell or not, i guess, is subjective. If you can't tell a difference, then by all means, don't spend extra for something that makes no difference to you.

Well I have done a lot of research about TV's. I don't just go out and buy one. I went out 2 years ago and got a RP Sony 50" Wega TV based on reviews and everyone seemed to have liked it. Well got it home and hooked up and was just ok with it. Had curving pictures at times in the corners and wasn't digging that and was like I just spent 2700 bucks on this dam thing, so took it back and got what the best in the market was out at the time in the Sony XBR1 and sized down to 40" because 50 was too big for my room at the time. Well loved that TV for the most part and then in turn my old school CRT TV in my bedroom took a shit, so got me the 37" Westinghouse LCD LTV and was amazed at the picture and the reviews were in the middle, but still got it. Compared to my Sony, I was very surprised at the picture in SD and HD. Was as good as my Sony. So good, my 40" I gave so I say, lol to my parents and went and got the Sony XBR4 and spent another 3200 bucks based on all the reviews and saying it was the best of the best next to some Samsung model I didn't care for. Hooked it up and is 1080p compared to my 1080i models I have had. Honestly can't tell a difference and thing the Westinghouse on SD has better picture, could be cause the XBR4 is some what bigger, but still, I just thought I would have been blown away with it and I am not. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Still looks dam good and is quite and expensive and yet attrictive center piece, lol! Trust me, I read reviews, a lot of them. Just am very surprised at the Westinghouse is all besides the 1 line I get.

I own a westinghouse as well, when I looked at the store models I couldn't justify spending several hundred dollars more for a tv with similar specs that looked basically the same... In my price range most of the hd's were 27ish, with the westy I got a 32", which was a plus as well. I'll upgrade this year or next for a 40+1080p model, probably a westy too if they keep up the bang for your buck ratio.

Yeah, they are not that bad really and Cnet has ranked them up there for the best bang for your buck LCD with Vizio. Personally me, Vizio can't hang with Westinghouse. Aunt has a 50" Top of the line Vizio and my Westinghouse almost looks as big at 37". I don't know why, but it does. They are an excellent value!

You need to take SOURCE into account when dealing with HD picture quality. A 1080i SOURCE is going to display at 1080i whether the TV is 1080p CAPABLE or not. You're not gonna be able to tell the difference. I see 1080p as it stands right now as either a "plan for the future" format while blueray and hddvd picks up steam as a standard, or as a consideration for monitor use. Being able to crank my resolution to 1920 x 1080 was key for me. I haven't comitted to BR or HDDVD yet...still waiting a bit to see which goes the way of betamax.

As far as the westinghouse sets, they are definitely decent for the price. They can't hang with the big guys, but it really depends on what you are looking for. If I didn't have such specific needs with this tv I would have almost definitely gotten one. My buddy has a 47" and it's great dollar for dollar.
