lookin for a 32" lcd hdtv...

they make them in less than 42 but if you know anything about HD, you would know that you wouldnt be able to really tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p on a screen smaller than 42inches, so it doesnt pay to get a 32 or whatever unless your gonna be sitting directly in front of the tv

I know a thing or two about HD, but you were the one saying you didn't think they made a LCD under 42" in 1080p. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif So just letting you know that.

I can make a difference in my 37" Westinghouse to my 40"Sony XBR1 being I think my 37 is just as clear as the higher model Sony. Is kinda dissappointing to know I spent that extra money on the connections. Only thing I can tell the Sony does a lot better is the Black level.

Friend of a friend has a Pioneer Elite and is really nice, but I still can't get into the Plasma screens and all the glare they give off. I know Samsung and some others have that anti glare shield thing, but to me it still shows when you turn a light on or open up a window. I will stick to the LCD's for now unless I move into a cave that has electric, lol!

there are only a few tvs at 32 inches that do 1080p and the sharp aquos is the best of themn my opinion, but they are pricey. expect to pay at least a grand. thing is, you will never notice the difference between 720 and 1080 until you get to over 40 inches of screen. I only wanted 1080p resolution because I sit extremely close and use it as my monitor.

for what I wanted the aquos is amazing. for the average dude lookin for an hd you are better off saving a few hundo on a 720p set.

Nice! Didn't you say you were thinking of getting something bigger with your next install? You should do that 42", lol! That would deffintley turn some heads, plus it is a 1080p, but really a lot of shit don't come out in that anyway. My Westinghouse is 1080i and too be honest with you it looks as clear as my Sony's 1080p 46" not to mention SD comes out clearer on it as well. I sometimes feel I got totally ripped on my XBR's, but they do have more connections and I am sure will last longer, but picture quailty is just as good on my Westinghouse.
Yep going as big as I can fit in the hatch. I have 44" across to work with but the screen also needs to be able to be mounted high enough to see through the glass when the hatch is closed for hater vision purposes

i dont think they make tv's less than 42 inches in 1080p, i know walmart is gonna have Polaroid 42inch 1080p LCD's for $798 Friday
That Polaroid 42" is what I am aiming for. If only I had $800, I'd go get one tomorow.

On my westinghouse, I have the option to put it on a bunch of different settings and I can actually tell when I put it from 1080i to 720p. It gets more cloudier I guess is the best way to put it. This is on a 37" model and in a big bedroom.

Cool man, good luck on that.

Might want to keep it at 32 or 37" though so you have a little room to play with. Don't want to cut it too close.

Good luck and can't wait to see pics when it is all finished!

Changing it from i to p won't matter unless what you are watching supports both broadcasting formats. It's one or the other, and it's not up to the user.

Personally I don't like interlaced video. Supposedly the interlacing occurs faster than your brain can process but I find that it muddles action very easily during sports or other quick shots. That's why just about every sports broadcast is done in 720p. Alternating lines of resolution is cheesy.

I can't tell in my Sony's when I swtich them, but for some reason I can swith out my formats from 720p to 1080i on my Westinghouse and I along with the rest of my family can tell. I also get this resolution line quite a bit on my Westinghouse and have to switch formats and it goes away. Sometimes it comes right back, other times it don't. You wouldn't know what could cause that do you?

Not sure what you mean by a resolution line? Like a black bar?
Maybe it's not a resoultion line, but is a line that goes straight across and usually starts at the top and goes down with in time unless I take the format from 1080i to 720p and then back to 1080i. It chops off peoples heads and shit and is quite annoying. I don't know if it is my TV or the cable box I use, which is Time warner, but I don't get it on my other TV's.

hmm. Sounds like there is something fukked with the timing for the interlacing. Not sure what you'd do to fix it, but 1080i means it displays half the lines every other frame, so if its not coordinating those alternating frames with the correct timing I could see it causing something like that.

Just a guess though.

Does it happen with 720p?

simple clarification of the difference:
